Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

We had a GREAT time at the Pumpkin Patch! Even though it was a little wet and rainy, we enjoyed all of the fun activities! The students were able to mine for "gems" at the Pumpkin Patch. Each student placed their pan into the water and rocked it back and forth until all of the sand was gone. Whatever was left inside....the student was able to keep! The students were all very excited about this and later told me that they put their new gemstones inside their "Collection Boxes". We also wrote about this activity during our Writer's Workshop. We are learning about "Small Moments"...
WOW! Lots of pumpkins...

The pumpkin vines are curly....

The students were able to select one small pumpkin to take home.
The students were also able to feed farm animals at the Pumpkin Patch.
I see two cute pigs. Oink! Oink!
I see one red rooster.
The students also saw a tree house on our nature walk through the forest.

The students saw a tee pee but the chief was not there. He left the students a message and a surprise.

The students also made a scarecrow. They named him "Jimmy"...

Bye! Bye! Jimmy....see you next year!
